Here are some photos of Elrond, our new arrival. (His father, a very fine stud alpaca from the Alpagas de la Tille herd, is Gandalf!) Fingers crossed for him please – he’s a little premature and not very strong, although starting to suckle well from Mum. The threat of nakedness is hanging over the animals at Les Fragnes. Why? Because I learnt to spin a week ago. Now I eye up every creature I see with a view to what sort of yarn I could spin from its fur/wool/hair. Everyone knows that llama and alpaca wool is wonderful for spinning. But [...] It looks like winter might finally be over. It’s been another long one, and our coldest and snowiest to date. We pretty much exhausted our wood supplies so it’s time to start building up a store for next year. |
