We finally have some sheep. We’ve bought two Suffolk ewes from Edouard, the farmer who makes our hay and grows some cereals on our land. Suffolk is my county – I was born and bred in Ipswich – so I’m rather chuffed. We’re calling the girls Lavenham and Debenham after two pretty Suffolk villages not [...] [...]

My glamour week is going well – Yves Rocher goodies Monday, haircut Tuesday and a bike ride wearing lipstick Wednesday. Here I am touching up before we set off! We had a great ride this morning. Rors is getting the hang of using his 18 gears so our average speed per trip has shot up. When [...] [...] Every year we’re late getting going on the vegetable garden. Something always crops up at the wrong time (but not veggie crops). But to be fair, there is only a short window of opportunity between the end of the ferocious Creuse winter and the growing season. I’ve heard that round here you’re crazy to even [...] [...] Look at my polytunnel now! It wasn’t even that windy! And we positioned the tunnel next to the barn for extra protection. We wired the tunnel framework to two very heavy iron bars. They held it down fine, but the flimsy metal framework sheared or bent at all the joints. Very disappointing indeed.
